Deacons & Trustees



Deacons

The office of Deacon is set forth in I Timothy, Chapter 3 and Acts 6:3. Deacons are responsible for the administrative, and business work of the church and assist the Pastors in their duties, in promoting the spiritual welfare of the church such as provided in Acts 6:1-4, through calling and discipleship programs, serve the members of this Body of Believers, comprise the pulpit committee, serve as the Church's Disciplinary Board, serve as the School Board, assist with the appointment of teachers and officers to handle the day-to-day operations, periodically update the membership rolls and interview prospective members, and serve as the Corporate Board of Directors for all Local, State and Federal requirements and filings.

Current Deacon Board

William G. Henthorn, 77, currently serves as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He is a retired business owner. Bill was saved in 1941. He previously served as a deacon at Colonial Hills Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN. Bill has been attending Gospel for 10 years.

Tom Gillaspie, 60, currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Deacon Board. He is a veterinarian and an owner of South Trail Animal Hospital. He also serves as a bus driver for Gospel's Bus Ministry. Tom was saved in August, 1960. He is a Florida state representative for Christian Veterinary Missions and is a frequent volunteer for overseas mission trips. Raised on a Kansas farm, Tom went to veterinary school at Kansas State and served in the Army Veterinary Corp. in Viet Nam. Tom has been attending Gospel since 1993. He previously served as a deacon at Briarcliff Baptist Church, Ft. Myers, FL.

Michael Chapin, 41, currently serves as Secretary of the Deacon Board. He is the director of Information Technology for NCH Healthcare System in Naples. He has previously worked in various facets of the health care industry. Michael was saved on February 18, 1990. He has been attending Gospel for 2 years. Michael also serves as director for GBC's chapter of the Reformer's Unanimous Addiction Recovery Program.

Randy Mooneyham, 51, is the owner of Mooneyham Senior Photography and the previous owner of Mooneyham Wedding Photography. He was saved at the age of eight years old. Randy will have attended Gospel for 10 years this coming May (2007).

Keith Ott, 35, is a Bonita Springs firefighter. He previously worked in the construction and restaurant industries. Keith was saved in June, 1984 at church camp. He has been attending Gospel for 12 years. Keith also serves as a bus driver and safety director for our bus ministry.

Hal D. Riffle, 80, is a retired heavy equipment operator for the pipe line construction industry. He was saved in March of 1967. Hal has been attending Gospel for over 20 years. During that time he served as a bus captain for over 15 years. Hal previously served as a deacon at Grace Brethren Church in Washington, PA.

Doug Smith, 46, is the equipment manager for Worthington Country Club in Ft. Myers. He previously worked as both an auto and golf course mechanic. Doug was saved in the summer of 1983. He has been attending Gospel for 4 1/2 years. Doug also serves as a bus captain and head mechanic for our bus ministry. He previously served as a deacon at Faith Baptist Church, Osterville, MA and Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Silver Springs, FL.


Trustees

Elected, the Board of Trustees are responsible for the real and personal properties of the church (care and maintenance; to receive and count all monies coming into the church and to turn it over to the Church Treasurer for deposit.

Current Trustee Board

Benjamin R. Atto
, 69, is a retired lubrication specialist. Ben was saved in June, 1945. He has been attending Gospel seasonally since January, 2000. Ben also participates in the music ministry, decorating and visitation.

Warren Brown, age 47, is in charge of Audio/Visual productions at Gospel. He previously worked as a technician. Warren was saved at the age of 29. He has been attending Gospel for six years.

Nikolaus R. Carbon, 31, is a general contractor. Nick previously worked as a manure processor. He was saved on February 6, 2000. Nick also participates in the bus ministry, choir and Reformer’s Unanimous Addiction Recovery ministries. He has been attending Gospel since 2000.

Thomas L. Cronin, 68, has been semi-retired for the past 21 years. He is the owner of Cronin’s Porch & Patio. Prior to retiring, Tom was CEO of Quality Industries, Inc. He was saved in the fall of 1962. Tom also serves as Music Director, participates in visitation and is a charter member of Gospel’s motorcycle ministry. Prior to serving as a Trustee at Gospel, Tom was a trustee at Community Baptist Church in Oneco, FL. He has been attending Gospel for 8 years.

Frank DeMario

Jarvis Fisher, 34, is an air-conditioning designer. He previously worked in cable television installation. Jarvis was saved in 1978. He also participates in the Reformer’s Unanimous Addiction Recovery Program ministry. Jarvis has been attending Gospel for 3 years.

Michael Glore, 42, is a swimming pool contractor, husband and father of four. Michael was saved in July, 1991. He also participates in the bus ministry and junior church ministry. He has been attending Gospel for 15 years.

Ralph Hinton, 68, a retired landscape contractor, currently works at Home Depot. Ralph was saved on August 31, 1991. He also serves as a greeter and an usher. Ralph has been attending Gospel for 10 years.

Bill Jackson, 68, is a realtor. Bill is a retired NASA Senior Electronics Technician. He was saved in January, 1991. He also serves in the nursing home ministry and as a bus driver in the bus ministry. Bill has been attending Gospel for 13 years.

Curtis Johnson

Troy Lytell, 35, works in sales. Troy was saved in 1976. He also serves in the AWANA, Junior Church and Youth Services ministries. He has been attending Gospel for more than 15 years.

Bob Miller, 49, is an elevator installation technician. He previously worked as a carpenter, auto body & collision, auto mechanic, heavy equipment operator, tanning bed installation & repair and an electrician. Bob was saved in the fall of 1971. He also serves in the choir, special music, as a Sunday School teacher, Junior Worship Services, VBS, visitation outreach, tract ministry and Reformer's Unanimous. Bob has served as a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Church. He has been attending Gospel since May, 2004.

Bob Morris, 69, is a waterfall contractor. He previously worked for Redi-Mix Concrete. Bob was saved in 1949. He has been attending Gospel for 5 years.

Vincent Panipinto, 47, is an auto repair business owner. Vince was saved on June 14, 1994. He also serves in Junior Church and in the soul winning ministry. Vince has been attending Gospel for 10 years.

Bob Rose, 81, is a retired oil drilling consultant. Bob was saved in October, 1946. He also serves in the bus ministry as the coffee and donut “fixer” and in door-to-door visitation. He has been attending Gospel for 13 ½ years.

Chuck Santangelo, 36, is a home remodeling contractor. Chuck was saved in 2001. He also participates in the Reformer’s Unanimous Addiction Recovery program. He has been attending Gospel for 2 years.
