The Bible tells us in I Timothy 5:2 to “honour widows.” The word honour means to place in high regard or respect. Gospel Baptist Church indeed honors its widows and is committed to helping them in this stage of life when their life’s mate has been taken away.

Once every couple of years we publicly recognize our widows in a service. There is a special charge given to the widows because they indeed have a special ministry in and to the local church, but in that service there is also a reminder, once again, of what we can and need to do for them.

We help in the following areas: purchases, financial help, as well as repairs and work around the house and yard. This list is not exhaustive, but it is a token of our appreciation to these people who are the backbone and prayer warriors of our local church.
