Pastor Marty's Challenge to
teens. In I Corinthians 9:24-25 Paul writes, "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible." With these words in mind, and with a desire to minister more effectively to teens, we began a new discipleship program for teens called Teen Life. This thirty week program encourages faithfulness in four different areas: devotions, ministry opportunities Scripture memory, and church attendance. Each student must earn 100 points each week by having their devotions, helping out in one of our many local church ministries, memorizing Bible passages, and being faithful to the services. Each teen that enters the program has their own personal student leadership notebook which includes a devotional calendar, a place to keep track of prayer requests and answers to prayer, a Scripture memory guide, a section of Bible Lessons that will be taught each week, and a section to take sermon notes. On top of getting to grow closer to God by being accountable each week, each participant who finishes the thirty-week program with 3000 points will be eligible to go on a mission trip to Honduras to minister with our missionary Brother Marty Howell. These are simply a ministry tools to help teens make the next step spiritually. If you have any questions regarding this program, please feel free to contact me.
